Coco-Zen – Chocolate that feeds your Cravings and your Soul:Plus Free Halloween Giveaway!
Posted on October 25, 2011 in Giveaways, Vendors

We all have our fond memories of Halloween as a child – the princess costumes, parades around the school parking lot, trading candies with friends, and not a calorie-counting care in the world.

Now that you’re an adult, it might take more than a sac full of Sweet Tarts and Reeses to dress up like Pippi Longstockings.

That’s where Coco-Zen comes in. Founded on the principles of responsible purchasing and fair trade, Coco-Zen uses all organic ingredients that will leave your sweet tooth (and heart) satisfied.  They use various methods of conservation from trying to ship in recycled and compostable packaging to using renewable energy sources at their business.  The company believes in Oneness with the planet and its people and a fair and more sustainable way of doing business.

Coco-Zen is also participating in Reverse Trick-or-Treating, a program established to highlight the plight of cocoa farmers and use of child labor in the industry.Trick-or-Treaters will be handing Fair Trade chocolate back to adults, with informational cards attached, to explain the problems of the cocoa industry and how Fair Trade presents a solution.  By providing children with a way to be active, tens of thousands of households in the US are getting the message that child labor and force labor will not be tolerated by our kids.

Support socially and environmentally conscious businesses this Halloween by buying organic, Fair Trade goodies for your neighborhood trick-or-treaters!

Also, Coco-Zen and Roozt are teaming up for a Halloween giveaway!

Roozt Impact Spotlight – No One Without + Giveaway!
Posted on October 4, 2011 in Be The Change, Promotions, Vendors

More often than not we make donations to organizations without knowing where our money goes or who the money supports.  We feel distant from the cause and eventually downsize our contributions because we can’t see the change.  We all want to witness our hard earned dollars make an impact on another’s life.

Well today, meet Musu. Musu is about 6 years old and was found selling nuts in the slum area where we work in Monrovia, Liberia. The founder of More than Me, Katie, smiled at Musu, who was sitting in the dirt with her peanuts for sale on her side. She started following Katie with her broken flip flops slapping against the pavement. Katie walked by a vendor selling flip flops and offered to buy Musu a new pair. She was quiet when receiving them but Katie said she could tell Musu was happy with her new flipflops. Katie had to leave but put a few dollars in Musu’s peanut money bucket as well as a slip of paper with Macintosh, our Liberian program volunteers’ phone number and asked if Musu’s mom could call him. Musu’s mom called Macintosh and he went to meet up with both Musu and her mother. Musu’s mother has an eye disorder and has difficulty seeing and she has several children, none of whom are in school. Musu is one of the breadwinners for her family. Musu will now be enrolled in school next year for her first time because No One Without!

Here is the amazing part: You can help fund Musu and countless of children’s continued education by shopping at No One Without! More Than Me is just one of five amazing non-profits that N.O.W. works with in their ‘For Purpose’ business model. When you checkout with all your new tees and hoodies, you’ll have a chance to select one of the following organizations to contribute 20% of your purchase to:

More Than Me Foundation, Inc.: An organization working in developing countries to reduce poverty through the power of education.  More Than Me believes that “it is education that will provide the next generation with the tools to fight poverty and conquer disease. School also offers children a safe environment, filled with support, supervision and socialization.”

Thirst Relief International: An organization working to save lives through granting access to safe drinking water. Their goal is “to overcome death and disease resulting from the consumption of contaminated water by providing safe, clean drinking water to those in need around the world.”

Giving Children Hope: An organization supporting the roughly 22,000 homeless children in Orange County, California “by continuously providing a stable and nutritious source of food to carry home during the weekends along with providing them with nutritional education.”

These Numbers Have Faces: A non-profit working to provide college scholarships for ambitious township youth in Capetown who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity for higher education. In return for their college scholarship, TNHF scholars participate in the TNHF Community Impact Model in which they engage in community service, mentoring, tutoring, leadership & financial literacy training.

The Chisomo Idea: An African-born global grassroots movement connecting the privileged young (and young at heart) to issues of poverty in Africa and providing them with a framework for action. The group creates learning centers to build leadership skills and provide safe, engaging extracurricular activities.

Now that you know more about the 5 foundations No One Without supports, enter the Give-A-Way Contest! All you have to do is ‘Like’ N.O.W. and become a fan of Roozt on Facebook, then tell us which of the organizations you would support and why!  Entries must be posted before Midnight on October 10th. Best of luck and keep believing!

World Peace Day and This Shirt Helps Contest Giveaway!
Posted on September 19, 2011 in Be The Change, Promotions, Social Entrepreneurs, Vendors

September 21st marks the United Nation’s International Day of Peace.  The event was established in 1981 as a way for the UN to commit itself to the spread of worldwide peace and encourage individuals, communities, and nations to work in cooperation towards this goal.  By creating one day of global truce, the UN along with various international groups such as the World Health Organization and UNICEF have been able to reach previously inaccessible at-risk populations to provide them with vaccinations, food and humanitarian aide. We at Roozt believe wholeheartedly in this mission and are inspired to make our small mark on World Peace Day 2011.

To celebrate this movement, Roozt could not have teamed up with a greater life-changing, awe-inspiring company than This Shirt Helps to give away a free premium-quality shirt to one lucky winner!  Company founder and apparel expert, Joe Huff, created the company after going through some tragedy of his own. In just one year, Joe had lost his father, his dog, and was separated from his wife.  The painful chain of events forced him to reanalyze his life and figure out what really mattered.  Instead of dwelling on his losses, Joe found strength and focused his attention on ways to positively impact the lives of others.  He wanted to commit himself to making a difference for those who wouldn’t get the opportunities he was privileged enough to receive.

Thus, This Shirt Helps was born.  Joe combined his skills for creating upscale, trendy apparel with his multiple philanthropic passions to create his dream job.  TSH takes conscious consumerism to the next level by developing a transparent business model that allows shoppers to choose the cause they wish to promote with every purchase.  When adding a shirt to your cart, you can decide if a portion of the proceeds will:

• Provide clean water for a year for a person at risk of
life threatening waterborne illnesses
• Enable a child to receive one week of schooling
• Plant 3 trees through much needed reforestation projects, or;
• Save an animal in a shelter, either through spay and neuter
programs or food and health services

A quarterly report will reflect all the aid the sales have contributed to and show customers just how many lives were improved through their purchases.  TSH hopes to inspire and engage more companies to get involved in social contributions and work together to change the world.

The Contest:

Through the generosity of This Shirt Helps and the celebration of World Peace Day, Roozt is giving away a TSH shirt to one lucky winner!  The winner will get to pick the shirt of their choice and also their preferred cause.

To Enter:

Simply Like” This Shirt Helps on Facebook then “Like” and leave a comment on Roozt’s Page telling us what humanitarian cause you’d like to contribute to for World Peace Day and why.  Enter before Sunday Night 11:59 P.M. PST.  The winner will be chosen at random on Monday, September 26th to receive his or her free feel-good tee!

We’re so excited to watch Joe and his team bloom and prosper and hope everyone out there participates in World Peace Day on September 21st!

This Shirt Helps apparel will be displayed at Conveyer in Fred Segal, Santa Monica this month. Additionally, to celebrate its launch, TSH will be giving an extra week of schooling for every shirt purchased in the month of September! Want to know more?  Find out about the company’s mission in this video.
